Giza Pyramids

The Giza Pyramids Complex is one of the most famous ancient sites in the world, built more than 4,000 years ago. It includes three main pyramids, six smaller ones, the Great Sphinx and the Valley Temple.  These monuments were built for the pharaohs as tombs, where they believed they would rise to the heavens and live on in the afterlife.  Today, the site still stands as a powerful symbol of ancient Egypt’s history and incredible building skills.

The Great Pyramid

The Great Pyramid of Khufu, also called Khufu’s Horizon, is one of the most impressive achievements of ancient Egypt. It was built around 2570 BC and originally stood about 147 meters tall. The project was designed under the supervision of Khufu’s vizier, Hemiunu. This amazing monument is the only surviving wonder of the ancient world and still stands today as a symbol of Egypt’s greatness. Inside the pyramid, there are important chambers, including the King’s Chamber and the Queen’s Chamber which show the skill and planning of its builders.

The Great Sphinx

The Great Sphinx is one of the oldest statues ever built and is full of mystery and wonder.  It stands about 73 meters long and 19 meters high. The statue shows a mythical creature with the body of a lion and the head of a man, believed to represent King Khafre, also known as Chephren. It was made as a symbol of strength and wisdom.

The Valley Temple

The well preserved structure known as the Valley Temple of Khafre was built during the 4th Dynasty by royal families.
