The Giza Necropolis is the most important archaeological site in Egypt. It is located 30 kilometers (18 miles) southwest of Cairo and includes the three pyramids of Cheops, Khephren and Mykerinus, as well as several other temples and tombs that were built during different periods starting from the fourth dynasty (2613-2494 BC).
The largest pyramid ever built in Egypt is known as Khufu’s Pyramid or the Great Pyramid of Giza. It was built during the 4th dynasty by King Khufu who ruled Egypt from 2589 BC to 2566 BC. This pyramid has an estimated volume of 2,583,000 cubic meters and covers an area of 13 acres (5 hectares).
