Steigenberger Regency Nile Cruise Tour Itinerary

Day-1-Luxor-East-Bank-Steigenberger-Regency-Nile-Cruise-EgyptaTours Travelers aboard the Steigenberger Regency Nile Cruise ship usually head, after check-in and lunch, to the East Bank of the city of Luxor to see the prominent historical and archaeological landmarks found in this area. Among the most important is the Karnak Temple complex which is a huge religious complex comprising a group of smaller temples, shrines and towering pylons. It is considered one of the best tourist and archaeological destinations in Egypt. Located near this temple is also the beautiful Luxor Temple which was built specifically for the worship of the Theban Triad (Amun, Mut and Khonsu). A long ceremonial path called the Avenue of Sphinxes connects the two temples; it is a historical road surrounded by statues of rams and sphinxes on both sides and it was used for holding many important religious celebrations and events since the New Kingdom era.

  • Meals: Lunch & Dinner.
  • Overnight: On Board.

Day-2-Luxor-West-Bank-Steigenberger-Regency-Nile-Cruise-EgyptaTours On the second day of the trip, all visitors head to the West Bank of Luxor, where they can see the Temple of Deir el-Bahari which is unique in its design and it is one of the most important Egyptian mortuary temples built by Queen Hatshepsut. They can also see the area of the Valley of the Kings and Queens which is rich with decorated royal tombs where many kings, queens and high state officials from the Pharaonic era were buried. The colossal statues of Memnon and the Temple of Medinet Habu which is notable for its relatively good condition, can also be seen. The Ramesseum Temple, Dendera Temple and Monastery of Saint George are not usually part of the standard West Bank tour program on the cruise. Then, visitors board the Steigenberger Regency Nile Cruise ship again to travel and sail south towards the city of Edfu. Ontario is not a city on the Nile cruise route.

  • Meals: Breakfast & Lunch & Dinner.
  • Overnight: On Board.

Day-3-Edfu-Kom-Ombo-Steigenberger-Regency-Nile-Cruise-EgyptaTours In the city of Edfu, visitors see the Temple of Edfu, also known as the Temple of Horus which is considered one of the largest and most well-preserved and architecturally complete ancient Egyptian temples ever, after Karnak Temple. It was built specifically for the worship of the falcon god Horus, son of the deities Isis and Osiris. Tourists then travel by ship to the city of Kom Ombo to visit the Temple of Kom Ombo which is distinguished by its location directly overlooking the Nile. It is one of the unique Egyptian temples that were built to worship two gods together: the crocodile god Sobek and the elder falcon god Horus. During the visit to Kom Ombo, visitors can also see the small Crocodile Museum attached to the temple which houses a number of mummified crocodiles of different sizes. This is because the ancient Egyptians mummified crocodiles, considering them sacred creatures that symbolize power and fertility. Afterwards, sailing continues aboard the Steigenberger Regency Nile Cruise ship south to the charming and beautiful city of Aswan.

They can also enjoy seeing some of the beautiful colorful handicrafts in which the Nubian people excel and they can also try some distinctive and delicious Nubian dishes during this optional visit. Frequently Asked & Questions

The Steigenberger Regency typically sails between Luxor and Aswan, which is the classic Upper Egypt cruise route. Most itineraries are: About 3 or 4 nights between Aswan and Luxor About 7 nights for a round trip that covers both directions Schedules can change by season or charter, so it is best to check the exact dates and route with your tour operator or the cruise company before you book.

Cabins are typically set up like hotel-style rooms rather than bunk cabins on a riverboat. You can expect: Twin or double beds Private bathroom with shower Air conditioning Large window or panoramic window, depending on deck level Some ships also have suites with more space and a separate seating area. The exact layout and decor can vary by season and any refits, so check recent photos from your travel provider.

Most Nile cruises use a buffet format for breakfast and lunch, with a mix of international and Egyptian dishes. Dinner can be buffet or set-menu à la carte, depending on the day and occupancy. If you have dietary needs, tell the cruise or your tour operator in advance, and remind staff again once you board. They’re usually able to adjust within reason.

The general dress code is smart-casual. Comfortable travel clothes are fine during the day, especially for excursions in hot weather. In the evening, many guests change into neat casual outfits, like: Sundress, skirt, or trousers for women Long trousers and a polo or shirt for men Formal wear is not required, but very casual beachwear (like swimwear in the restaurant) is not appropriate.

Most modern Nile cruise ships, including those in the Steigenberger group, offer Wi‑Fi in public areas and sometimes in cabins. Connection speeds can be slow and unstable, since the ship moves through areas with weak mobile coverage. If you need steady data, it helps to bring an Egyptian SIM card with data as a backup. Always ask your provider or agent how Wi‑Fi works on your specific departure.

The most comfortable months for a Nile cruise are typically: October to April for cooler temperatures December to February for the mildest daytime heat Summer (especially June to August) can be extremely hot, with daytime temperatures well above 100°F (38°C). Prices may be lower in that period, but you’ll do temple visits in strong heat, often early in the morning.

Many packages that feature the Steigenberger Regency bundle guided tours to key sites, such as: Karnak and Luxor Temples Valley of the Kings Edfu and Kom Ombo Temples Philae Temple in Aswan However, some offers sell the cruise as accommodation and meals only, with excursions sold as an extra. Look for phrases like “including sightseeing” or “with full excursion package” in your itinerary, and ask for a clear list of which entries and guides are included.

Families do sail on Nile cruises, but the experience is generally quiet and relaxed, not like a large resort ship. Children who enjoy history, boats, and calm settings usually do well. There are a few key points to keep in mind: There is often no dedicated kids’ club Pool areas are small and not supervised by lifeguards Some days include early starts and long walks in the sun If you travel with young children, plan for breaks, bring sun protection and snacks, and ask for any child policies before you book.

Nile cruise ships often have narrow corridors, steps, and gangways, which can be challenging for guests with wheelchairs or serious mobility issues. Elevators might not reach all decks, and access to some temples requires climbing uneven stairs or walking on sand. If you have mobility concerns, ask the cruise operator or your travel agent: Whether there is an elevator and which decks it serves How boarding and disembarking works at each port If any adapted cabins are available This helps you judge if the trip matches your needs.

Many Nile cruises add a service charge that is shared among the crew. Guides and drivers on shore excursions are usually tipped separately. As a rough guide, many travelers budget: A daily tip per person for the ship’s crew, paid at the end A tip per day or per excursion for the guide and driver Your tour operator will often give suggested amounts in advance, so you can bring small Egyptian pounds or low-denomination foreign currency to handle tips smoothly.
