In spring, Cairo is a great place to explore. You can walk through the city and visit its historic Islamic and Coptic sites, such as the Mosque of Muhammad Ali and the Hanging Church. You can also spend time at the well known Egyptian Museum to see many ancient treasures.
Summer
Summer is a great time to go diving in Egypt. You can visit popular beach towns along the Red Sea, like Hurghada or Sharm El-Sheikh. These places are perfect for swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving because the water is warm and very clear.
Top things to do in Egypt during summer include snorkeling, diving, relaxing by the sea and enjoying the sunshine.
Autumn

Autumn is also a great time for a family trip to Egypt. The weather is not too hot, which makes it perfect for going out and exploring. Many families visit during this season, so you’ll find lots of activities and places that are suitable for kids.
If you’re visiting in autumn, Alexandria is a lovely place to go. This coastal city is perfect to explore when the weather is mild. You can visit famous spots like the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the Citadel of Qaitbay and Pompey’s Pillar.
Egypt Weather by region
Cairo
The best time to visit Cairo is from November to December or April to May. During these months, the weather is usually warm and sunny in the day and cooler at night which makes sightseeing much more comfortable. December can be a bit busy, but the other months are generally less crowded.
The worst time to visit is from July to September. It gets extremely hot during these months, and it can be hard to stay outdoors for long periods. Outside of places like hotels, private cars, or high-end restaurants, air conditioning may not always be available.
When planning a trip to Cairo, it’s good to know that rain does happen, but not very often. In winter, there can be light rain that may sometimes cause minor flooding on roads, but it rarely affects travel plans. In spring, strong sand and dust storms can occur, but they usually last only a short time and mainly affect open desert areas like the Pyramids of Giza and Saqqara.
Also, travelers can usually get a visa on arrival at Cairo International Airport or other entry points, no matter what time they arrive during the year.
Luxor and Aswan
The best time to visit Luxor and Aswan is from November to April. During these months, the weather is warm and sunny in the daytime, but it can get cool or even a bit cold at night. Even in winter, the sun can feel very strong in the middle of the day.
The summer months, from June to October, are extremely hot. The heat can be very strong and uncomfortable, especially because most attractions are outdoors and there is little shade. If you are not used to very hot weather, this time is best avoided.
If you still need to travel in summer, a Nile cruise can make the trip easier. Cruise ships often have air conditioning and sometimes a swimming pool which helps you stay cool. Also, tours are usually done in air-conditioned buses, so you spend less time directly in the hot sun.
Dahab, Sharm el Sheikh and Hurghada
You can visit the Sinai and Red Sea at almost any time of the year. The weather is usually warm or hot and sunny, and the sea stays comfortable for swimming most of the time. It is rarely too crowded, except during Egyptian holiday periods.
The only busy times are during the two Eid holidays which come around the end of Ramadan and a few months later. During these days, places like Dahab and other resort towns can get crowded. However, this can also make the area feel more lively, with more people on the beaches, in cafes and at nightlife spots.
If you plan to snorkel or dive between December and April, it is a good idea to wear a full wetsuit because the water can feel cold. Bring a towel and warm clothes for after swimming, since you may feel chilly when you get out of the sea. Even if the weather is sunny, the air can still feel cool. If you are hiking or climbing in the Sinai mountains, especially Mount Sinai in winter, make sure to bring warm clothes like a jacket and long pants because it can get very cold at higher places.
What to pack for each Season
What -to- pack- for -each- Season
Winter
Winter lasts from November to March, and during this time staying warm is more important than looking stylish. It’s a good idea to wear a thermal base layer first, then add a warm fleece or a thick down jacket for insulation and finish with a waterproof coat to protect you from snow and rain. You should also bring warm items like gloves, a hat and a scarf or neck cover. Strong, insulated boots with good grip are important too so you don’t slip on ice. If you plan to go skiing, don’t forget essential gear like a helmet, goggles and a proper ski jacket.
Spring
Spring in Jackson Hole, from April to June, can change quickly and is hard to predict. Temperatures may range from about 20°F to 60°F and sometimes snow can still fall. Because of this, it’s best to dress in layers. Start with warm thermal underwear, then wear a fleece or wool layer, and finish with a jacket and pants that protect you from wind and water. Spring is also a good time for hiking, but many trails can still be snowy or muddy. Good hiking shoes are important, along with a hat and gloves for colder days.
Summer
The weather can feel warm during the day, so it’s best to pack light and airy clothes like T-shirts, shorts and thin pants. Comfortable hiking boots are also useful if you plan to explore outdoors. It’s smart to carry a light jacket or raincoat in case the weather changes quickly. Nights can get much cooler, so having a sweater or light puffy jacket will help keep you warm. For everyday use around town, you can also bring sneakers or flip-flops. Since the area is at a high elevation, the sun can feel very strong, so sunglasses and a hat are important for protection.
Fall
Fall in Jackson Hole is from September to October and is known for its cool weather and colorful leaves. It’s best to wear layers because temperatures can change during the day. Bring a sweater or light jacket for cold mornings and evenings. A waterproof jacket is also helpful in case of rain or early snow. A light warm hat can be useful too. For walking and hiking, comfortable shoes or boots are enough.
