Giza pyramids are royal tombs, each bearing the name of the king who built and was buried in it. The stepped Pyramid of Djoser stands at a height of 62 meters (203 ft), with a base area of 109 m × 125 m (358 ft × 410 ft), and was originally covered in white polished limestone. The pyramid is considered the first stone structure of its time, although the enclosure known as Gisr el-Mudir seems to have preceded the pyramid.
