    Giza Pyramids Complex

As the ancient Egyptian civilization grew, many amazing monuments were built around 2600 BC. Among the most famous are the three Great Pyramids and the Sphinx, along with many other impressive structures that still stand today.

    The Great Pyramid

The Great Pyramid of King Khufu is the only ancient wonder that still remains almost intact today. It was built around 2580 BC over about 20 years, using a huge workforce of around 100,000 people. The pyramid was made from about 2.3 million limestone blocks and originally stood about 147 meters tall.

    The Sphinx

Standing like a silent guard, the Great Sphinx was built during the reign of Pharaoh Khafre (around 2558–2532 BC). It was designed to represent the king and take the form of the mythical Sphinx. The statue was carved from a single block of limestone and measures about 19 meters wide and 73 meters long.

    The Valley Temple

On the Giza Plateau, there is an important area known as the mortuary temple in the valley. This was where mummification rituals were carried out during Egypt’s Old Kingdom (2686–2134 BC). It played a key role in ancient beliefs about the journey to the afterlife.

    The Grand Egyptian Museum

The Grand Egyptian Museum is a huge modern museum near the Giza Pyramids, covering about 490,000 square meters. It holds and displays thousands of years of Egyptian history and helps visitors learn more about the country’s ancient culture in a simple and engaging way. The museum connects ancient Egypt with modern design and technology, offering interactive displays and clear storytelling. It also includes large conservation areas, research labs and learning spaces to help protect and study Egypt’s heritage. Inside, visitors can see amazing pieces such as the Hanging Obelisk, a giant statue of Ramses II and the full collection of more than 5,000 items from the tomb of Tutankhamun.

    Saqqara Step Pyramid

During the reign of Pharaoh Djoser (around 2687–2668 BC), a new type of monument was built called the Step Pyramid. It was designed with six stacked levels and reached a height of about 62 meters. This structure is considered the first pyramid ever built in ancient Egypt and marked an important step in the development of Egyptian architecture.

    The Egyptian Museum

In the center of Cairo stands the famous Egyptian Museum, a place known for its art and history. It was established in the 19th century and contains over 140,000 artifacts that represent more than 5,000 years of ancient Egyptian history. The collection includes items made from valuable materials like gold and stone, reflecting the rich heritage of this great civilization.

    Salah El Din Citadel

The Cairo Citadel was built in 1182 AD by Salah Al Din as a strong fortress to protect the city from invaders. Later, until around 1860 AD, it also served as the center of government. Today, the Citadel includes several museums and art displays inside its walls, making it an important historical site in Cairo.

    Mohamed Ali Mosque

Inside the Cairo Citadel, there is a beautiful mosque built in the Ottoman style between 1830 and 1848 AD. It is covered with alabaster stone on the outside which is why it is known as the Alabaster Mosque.

The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization

The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) helps visitors learn about the long history and culture of ancient Egypt in a clear and simple way. It displays thousands of important artifacts that show over 4,000 years of history. The museum holds around 50,000 items including a special hall that contains 20 royal mummies, giving a unique look into Egypt’s ancient past.

    Al Muizz Street

Al Muizz Street is a famous and historic street that dates back to the Fatimid period in the 10th century AD. It was once an important commercial center and is known for its old, maze like layout. Today, the street is filled with traditional cafes, museums and art displays. It offers a glimpse into the beauty and rich culture of Islamic Cairo.

    Khan El Khalili Bazaar

Khan El Khalili Bazaar was established in 970 AD during the Islamic golden age. It is still one of the busiest and most popular markets in Egypt, offering a wide variety of goods that visitors can explore and enjoy. After your visit, you will go to Cairo Airport for your flight back to Hurghada Airport. From there, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Port Ghalib, marking the end of your 2 day tour from Port Ghalib to Cairo.
